DARA Licensing
The Dayton Amateur Radio Association provides Free FCC license exams to all interested in Amateur Radio. Pre-registration is not necessary unless special assistance is required such as having a test read to you.
Exam sessions for all classes of license are held monthly at the DARA Clubhouse located at 6619 Bellefontaine Rd. Huber Heights, OH 45424. Exam dates are published on the DARA Calendar visible on the Home Page. Testing for odd numbered months is the 3rd Wednesday at 7 pm.
Exceptions:
May: DARA sponsors license exams each May at Hamvention. Exam sessions for May are held at Memorial United Presbyterian Church located at 343 West Ankeney Mill Rd. Xenia, OH 45385. Please visit https://hamvention.org/event-details/exams/for Hamvention testing details.
Due to recent changes in FCC policy all prospective licensees must have an FCC Registration Number (FRN) prior to testing. AN FRN may be applied for by visitinghttps://www.fcc.gov/wireless/support/universal-licensing-system-uls-resources/getting-fcc-registration-number-frn
Those wishing to test should bring:
-Government issued I.D.
-FCC Registration Number (FRN)
-Any expired licenses, CSCEs, or other paperwork for upgrade purposes
You may also wish to bring:
-a basic calculator (Cell phones are not allowed)
